After decades of hearing about Barrie from Liz’s father Fred, we finally got to meet Barrie, Sue & Joanne when we visited the UK the first time. Since then, we have been fortunate to visit the UK a number of times and have always made a point of touching base. We were also fortunate enough to join the family in celebrating Simon & Clair’s wedding. We would meet for lunch at Barrie & Sue’s home, which would start early and end late! Great opportunities to learn more from Barrie about this geographically distant family, also to fill the gaps in the early lives of the Cridland boys. Barrie’s great sense of humour & wonderful story telling ability complemented Sue’s fabulous meals. We will miss Barrie & these special times spent in his company but we will make sure to stay in touch with Sue & the family & look forward to meeting up again soon.
